Meet Dr. Schendel
The director of the California Craniofacial Institute is Dr. Stephen Schendel. Dr Schendel is the protégé of Dr. Paul Tessier, the world-renowned French physician who actually pioneered the craniofacial surgery procedures that became the specialty itself. These revolutionary, multidisciplinary procedures have since improved the lives of thousands of patients. Under the tutelage of Dr. Tessier, Dr. Schendel became a world-renowned authority on craniofacial in his own right. Today, he is the director of the California Craniofacial Institute.
Dr. Stephen Schendel is the author of over a hundred books and scholarly articles on craniofacial surgery and has held over a dozen faculty and research positions at Stanford University and other respected institutions including the Centre Hospitalier Regional in Nantes, France.
Dr. Schendel has served as:
- Past president of The American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons.
- Professor of Surgery (Emeritus) Stanford University Medical Center
- Former Chair of Plastic Surgery and Director of the CFA Center at LPCH
